Religious Education

Overview

The RE syllabus at Fulbrook is based on the Bedfordshire Agreed Syllabus for RE.

Religious Education at Fulbrook helps children understand their own beliefs and values and those of others. Children study the beliefs of the six major religions in the world. They are encouraged to ask questions and to show respect. Some units of work are more general and ask children to reflect on values, such as fairness or care for the environment.

Lessons regularly include the use of role play, discussion, art, music and outside speakers. Children are also required to produce written work of a high standard, in line with the school’s literacy policy.

Every half term, children receive a lesson in philosophy which challenges them to learn from the philosophers of the past and present and encourages them to think logically.

Parents may withdraw their children from RE lessons should they wish.
